According to Dictionary.com, a magnetic monopole is:

a hypothetical very heavy particle with an isolated magnetic north pole or magnetic south pole.

Most importantly, however, it is a noun.

I am Tharindu. My family replaced my name with Thauwa for several years because they found my baby cousin Navindu’s best attempt at my name cute. I just graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 2019, with majors in Physics/Biophysics and Pure Math, and minors in Theater and Dance. I am currently waiting to hear back from graduate schools about my admission into their physics PhD programs. Starting this Fall (2019), This Fall (2019), In 2019, I will begin started working towards my PhD in theoretical condensed matter physics with Dr. Ting Cao at the University of Washington. In addition to research, I dance, act, and keep lubricating the engines of STEM Pals, an outreach program for high schools that I conceived and birthed (we are an amazing team of extraordinary people – do check us out!). I also try to enjoy beautiful San Diego Seattle while I can, and never hesitate to go on an outdoorsy adventure with Queen Olu [UPDATE 12/31/2020: thanks quarantine!].

This website is a combination of my portfolio and a platform for me to play on. I pen stuff in here with a brash air of narcissism because I think that it’s hilarious for a nobody to portray himself with high self-esteem, but also because I want to encourage you to share your own creations, regardless of how non-impactful you believe them to be. It is sad that our culture tends to culture unrealistic standards for most yogurts things, thereby discouraging creativity.

The Research and Performing Arts sections serve as my portfolio and are maintained on a strictly factual level. However, everything else is up to your interpretation and might not even reflect my own beliefs as a scientist and fellow human. In other words, the Creative and Opinions sections can be safely dismissed as innocent products of my pastimes and playful endeavors. I would like to hear from you on any of this, so feel free to leave comments on any of my content!

Finally, I encourage you to contact me, whether it is to provide feedback, discuss collaborating or chat over a cup of tea!
